Just about every article you read about improving your health or weight loss is going to tell you to ignore the drive through and cook all of your meals instead. This is actually good information. Sometimes, though, the last thing you want is to have to make meals from scratch. Once in a while you just want to visit the drive through while you’re on your way home and complete the day. There isn’t any reason that you shouldn’t be allowed to do this and not be plagued by remorse about slipping on your diet. This is possible because plenty of the popular fast food destinations making the effort to make their menus healthy now. Here is how you can find healthy food at the drive through.

Aim at the side dishes. Not so long ago, the only side dish item at a fast food restaurant was French fries. Now lots of the fast food menus have been widened a great deal. Now lots of them offer salads. Chili is another selection. You can also buy a baked potato. Fruit is usually available. There are a lot of options that don’t involve eating one thing deep fried. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” try to build a meal from side dishes. When you do this you are able to keep your fat content as well as your calorie counts low.

Milk, juice and water are the best choices for beverages. When you drink a large soft drink you are putting too much empty calories to your day. One serving of soda pop is eight oz.. That serving can contain numerous spoonfuls of sugar in addition to at least a hundred calories. Most fast food soft drinks are at least twenty ounces huge. Thirty ounces, however, is much more common. This means that your drink alone will put a large number of ounces of sugar into your body as well as several thousand empty calories. Water, fruit juice and milk, on the other hand, are much better choices.

Choose your drive through based on whether it has better options available. Arby’s for example, does not offer burgers. Instead, your options include things like roast beef and chicken sandwiches, wraps and big salads. Wendy’s, of course, is known for its square burgers, but the menu there has a considerable amount of healthful choices like salad, potatoes and chili. Not all fast food places are as unhealthy as McDonalds with its deep fried every little thing.

Basic logic states that the simplest way to lose pounds and get healthy is to ban fast food from your diet altogether. Most of the time this is a good idea but if you make good choices, there is not any reason you can’t visit your drive through from time to time. Sometimes what you need is to let someone else create your dinner. There isn’t any reason to feel guilty about going to the drive through when you make healthy and balanced decisions!
