I have a 13 year old male cat who has been diagnosed with diabetes in the last 6 months. He was given a pill prescription, but that only elevated his blood sugar. We refuse to give him shots, because we feel that is cruel to stick him with needles every day. I am just curious if there is any food or creatable remedy to prolong his life, or even help cure the diabetes…
I don't think so. You'd have to give him the shots to prolong his life and make him feel better. If you don't, he probably won't last much longer. in cats, you probably won't ever cure the diabetes. He's old, too. however, with the proper meds he may live another 2 or 3 years.
Having diabetes myself, I think that your cat must be suffering without the shots. It feels horrible to have a high sugar.
One of my cats had two shots a couple of days ago and never flinched. It's gotta be the shots or put him down.It is unfair to have him live in pain – the way he is doing now.
