1.what hormone do you lack that causes diabetes?
2.Where in your body is this hormone made?
3.# of amino acids in it
4, what type of hormone is it: Steriod, protein, or carbohydrate?
i dunno…thats way over my head!
if you are diabetic you either lack insulin or your body has become insensitive to it. the insuline is made in the beta cells of the pancreas. dunno the rest, sorry!
I need some diabetes information?

hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) is basic diabetes.
if you are thinking low blood sugar(hypoglycemia) it is probably because their dose of insulin is too high or they aren't eating properly for the dose they are giving themselves.
People with type I diabetes must rely completely on insulin from a source outside their own body. Injections or a pump can not completely duplicate the body's natural response to increased levels of glucose in the blood. Emotions, illness, the menstrual cycle, exercise and lack of sleep or too much exercise can result in wide excursions of the glucose in the blood. It would be so much easier if every person with diabetes were exactly like the next, but that simply isn't the reality. It is a very individualized disease, and even the same person can eat exactly the same food and keep a similar routine and have very different responses to the glucose that the body uses and the levels that are released from the liver. That is why diabetics on insulin must be vigilant and take blood glucose readings to constantly adjust their insulin levels.
They would be likely to develop either one. they are dependent on getting exact doses of insulin matched to their food intake and level of exercise. if the situation is right (or wrong) they can develop hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia within minutes.
Hypoglycemia = low blood sugar levels = caused by too much insulin, too little food or physical activity
Hyperglycemia = high blood sugar levels = caused by too much food, too little insulin or stress
Why would a person with Type One Diabetes taking insulin be likely to develop hyperglycemia?

My mothers dog has just been diagnosed with diabetes. I have been searching all over the place for a forum of some sort for information/support, I am not having any luck. I am wondering if someone might know of a place.
you can get some relevant information here in this website regarding all forms of diabetes.
http://www.reverse-diabetes-today.com
Try this page. Intervet is company that makes caninsulin – which is insulin for dogs and cats. They make a really good handout brochure that your mom's Vet might also have, as well as i.d. tags for the pet that lets people know they are diabetic.
http://www.caninsulin.co.uk
I am so sorry!
veterinarypartner.com will give you some great info on how the disease is treated and what to expect and watch out for.
As far as support groups, you could google for your area-just type in dog and diabetes.

My mother is about 45 yrs old, she is suffering from Diabetes for 22 yrs. she is going very weak and thin day by day. her weight is about 35 kg or less. we can't afford expensive treatment like Insulin, expensive devices. her eyesight is also very weak and bones also. if somebody has some suggestions or treatments, pls answer (we are in India)
There is no better treatment for diabetes than insulin and what you are talking about. There are other treatments, but they are more expensive.
You don't say if she has Type 1 (formerly known as Juvenile diabetes) or Type 2 (formerly known as Adult onset diabetes). There's a big difference between the two types.
If she has Type 1, no special shortcut/hyped solution/herbal treatment in the world will help her. she has a life-threatening disease. her body doesn't make enough insulin, a chemical that she needs to function fully. she needs insulin. Now! if cost is a factor, you can do several things. if you have insurance, see what their coverage is. Check if there are governmental programs in India for low-income people. sometimes (at least here in the U.S.) you can get financial assistance directly from the insulin manufacturers. try contacting manufacturers such as Novo Nordisk (makers of Novalog insulin), Lilly (makers of Lispro), Aventis Pharmaceuticals (makers of Lantus and Humalog) directly to see if they can help. I don't know international distributor information so you'll have to do some homework.
If she has Type 2, proper nutrition and exercise *may* help. Keep her away from foods that are high in sugar and carbs. make sure she gets a well balanced diet that includes a variety of vegetables. There are oral medicines that can help–some names to research are Precose, Glyset, Glucophage, Prandin, and Avandia. again, maybe manufacturers could help you.
Either way, it sounds like she is in very poor shape and needs medical attention right away! her poor eyesight probably comes from years of neglecting her diabetes. if she dies, you'll wish you had found a way to save her.
Good luck to you.
beside the medicines.. Cinnamon is one of the great herbal medicine and there are several of scientific researchs support that..There are a couple of herbal .. called Gymnema sylvestre ( sorry I might spell it wrong) but the plant is originate from India!! so you might be able to find it..it has been used for 1000 yrs ( well I just quote what I saw) and other one called Fenugreek – plant also.. I used these herbal myself( but I also use regular medicine and excercise intensively) and they help be a lots..I have everything under control less than 3 months. I was very ill when i got diagnosed and I never used insulin or any expensive devices at all. so I believe you can do this too.
Good luck..
You could try coconut oil. You are in India so my guess is coconut oil is readily available. I'm no expert but I am starting to believe that hydrogenated oils are the cause of diabetes. Your mother is weak and thin because her body can't get any glucose. Giving her simple carbohydrates and sugars might overly tax her pancreas though. Give her more fish as well. The omega-3 oils present in fish, well I don't understand the details but they supposedly help. And also more vitamin C so that more energy gets absorbed into her cells. Sincerely hope your mom gets better. my mom is 78, very active, always walking, and she avoids American-style foods (factory and fast foods) like the plague. her only complaint is her joints.
check out this web site.. It is very good stuff. we are using it for my husband Cancer and it had made it go away.. I don't know if you can get it in India but it is worth a try to try and contact them.I have an 800 number i will give you to call and see if they will ship it that far.. The company number is 1-801-655-5500
the web to check out is: www.whyplankton.com/ and my web site to order on is : http://forevergreen.myvoffice.com/20391 Check out the testimonials and listen to : http://www.ph-health.net/abbie_email.htm
and : http://tinyurl.com/7zm15
This stuff works for alot of things:Cancers, Arthuritis, thyroid, Althemiers, weightloss, colesteral, Blood sugars, heart problems
check it out and see what you think and get in contact if you have any more questions. if you take a teaspoon everymorning and every evening this 4 pack should last you two months for around $150.00 don't know what shipping and handling would be so may be a little bit higher . go for prefered customer and give them my id number as 20391 Sandy Freeman you can e-mail me at: freemansfreeman@yahoo.com
Go to www.GoXanthones.com and listen to the audio link on diabetes by Dr. John Edwards. He has been using mangosteen juice to treat patients with diabetes. very informative.
To order mangosteen juice go to www.mangosteendiscovery.com and order from that site. All natural, no side effects and it tastes great fully patented
Bittergourd (including the seeds) helps improve the condition of diabetic.
Grind and let her drink it.
i think you need insulin. period. don't you have state assitanship for socially insecure? go to the United Nations health agencies.. they might help..
I have never tried this treatment myself, but it was recommended to me. Cinnamon or Cinnamon extract is supposed to naturally help regulate blood sugar. again I have never tried it, just heard about it. they make Cinnamon supplements your mom could take. I would consult a doctor first.
Diet & Exercise will always win out over medication though this sounds more like 22 years of poor treatment entering terminal stage. good Luck -
What is the best and cheap treatment for Diabetes?

Check out the raw food diets for cats. . both our cat and our dog are on it and it makes a huge difference in their over all health. You can also use essential oils for animals. It really helps with health issues.
m cat had diabetes go to you vet they will guide you through the diet and any medication that your cat needs
A diabetic Cat or any animal is like a diabetic Human. they need insulin to control the sugars in their blood. There may be a cat food that could help to control her diabetes, I would ask your vet what he would suggest. If food won't help though you may have to give her injections every day, similar to those that humans use to control this problem.
There are prescription foods for diabetic cats. You will need to consult your vet so they can recommend the food that will be best for your cat. I believe Hills, Royal Canin, and Eukanuba are the ones that vets will recommend most.
Raw diets are very debatable. If you consider that diet, you need to be in close contact with an animal nutritionist.
Diabetes has nothing to do with toxins. You should be feeding canned foods w/o gravy. Insulin is a natural hormone that is normally produced by the body. your cat's pancreas is not making it so you need to help it by giving insulin. please contact me so i can help you with this as I am very versed.
You do not accept emails so include your email address
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can a cat be helped, she has diabetes is there food that can get rid of the toxins?

Diabetes sufferer wins special award
5:09pm Friday 5th August 2011
A Corsham man has received a prestigious Lawrence Medal from Diabetes UK in recognition of his 60-year battle with the condition.
Les Sharpe, 69, of Westrop, a patient at the Royal United Hospital, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was a young boy.
He injects himself with insulin four times a day and has to test his blood three to four times daily.
mr Sharpe, who estimates he’s injected himself with insulin around 68,000 times during his life, said: “It’s a lot easier now than it was in the 1950s. Nowadays if you present doctors with the symptoms, blood tests are taken. If it has to be insulin-controlled, the correct dosage can be worked out quickly. This is thanks to the brilliant technology and the highly skilled medical staff available today.”
mr Sharpe, who has been married to Sally for 28 years, runs his own pottery business, supplying decorated pots, jugs and mugs.
He said: “Diabetes is a nuisance, not a problem. I keep it under control with the help and support of my wife and family. If I want a whiskey or a cake, I’ll have one. I live a perfectly normal life.”
the RUH diabetes team is led by four consultants, including consultant diabetologist Dr Alex Ward, who presented mr Sharpe with his medal at a meeting of the Chippenham & District Diabetes Group, which mr Sharpe attends regularly.
she said: “To have successfully negotiated his way through this condition for more than 60 years is some achievement. Les has clearly never let the condition hold him back, or prevent him from living life to the full. He is an inspiration to old and young.”
mr Sharpe hopes his award will help young people diagnosed with the condition.
He said: “Obviously, it’s a rather odd thing to be given to essentially commemorate you still being alive, but if it helps children who have been diagnosed young, like I was, then I’m only too glad to draw publicity to it. It’s important for them to realise they can lead a normal life and not have it playing on their mind.”
the Chippenham & District Diabetes Group meets six times a year in the Jubilee Building, Market Place, Chippenham.
the next meetings are on September 21 and November 16 starting at 7.30pm. for more information, call 01249 653007.

I need good advice
natural treatments can be really useful for type two diabetes, but with type one the only thing that will help you is taking injections of insulin.
just to be clear, type one is a complete deficiency of the cells of the pancreas (beta cells) that produce insulin for the body. type two is when you make enough insulin, but your cells do not process it correctly. by processing, i mean that insulin is key for the cells to take in glucose and convert it to energy. without insulin, the cells cannot use glucose, and they begin to starve. Excess glucose builds up in the bloodstream, setting the stage for diabetes.
lol just thought i'd make sure the differences were pointed out correctly. the previous answers you got didn't seem to emphasize the difference inbetween the two types- and recognizing that is key to understanding why natural treatments can work for type two, but not for type one.

Over 100 natural herbs and or natural medicines are being used for diabetes care. Specific herbs can accomplish the same actions of conventional medicines and without side effects.
Natural herbs can enable your body to do the following: Inhibit absorption of bad carbohydrates, act as hypoglycemic agents and reduce insulin resistance.
Diabetes herbs classified as miscellaneous help with pains and other diabetes symptoms.

Natural Diabetes Treatment
http://e-ccoc.co.cc/Natural-diabetes-treatments.html
Diabetes is an insidious disease that if not checked, can reach epidemic proportions. 1 in 10 Americans have been diagnosed with this condition.
There are several contributory factors and these are heredity,improper dietary habits, obesity, stress, and sedentary lifestyles. the medications used to cure the condition frequently cause severe side effects, such as instability, fatigue, dizziness, and skin disorders. because of the troubling side effects, people are often reluctant to take these medications for long periods of time and opt for natural diabetes treatment.
Our body requires insulin to convert sugar into energy. Metabolic and pancreatic disorders undermine its ability to produce insulin, resulting in diabetes. It is unfortunate that several people do not realize that they have this deadly disease until it reaches an advanced stage. though there is no cure for diabetes, it can be controlled by diet and exercise.
If you have the following symptoms,you are advised to consult a physician without delay:
* Excessive urination
* Dehydration
* Fatigue.
These signs depends on the type of diabetes you have and doctors have classified 3 types of diabetes:
* Type 1 Diabetes
* Type 2 Diabetes
* Gestational Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes begins at childhood and it is usually treated with a combination of oral and injected insulin.Gestational Diabetes develops in pregnant women.all 3 types of diabetes are caused by insulin deficiency and if not treated early, can result in serious damage not only to the vital organs but also to other parts of the body.among the diabetes-related conditions:
* Cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and blindness
* Amputations of legs, feet or arms
* Kidney failure
* Nervous system damage
* Circulatory problems and high blood pressure
The limbs of some diabetics have to be amputated because of the severe gangrene that has set in
Some of the conditions listed above can be life-threatening.
Big Pharma and the medical community have always favoured the old school medicine – surgery and treatments with insulin and other drugs, not natural diabetes treatment. because of the severe side-effects caused by these therapies, many patients have preferred natural herbal remedies. But these should only be taken after prior consultation with your GP. the claims by people who promote these remedies should not be taken at face value without thorough research and consultation with experts. That is not to say that some of the herbs do not have curative properties for diabetics. Native people have traditionally used herbs and plant extracts to treat diabetes.
Natural diabetes treatment harnesses the body's innate power to heal itself without the use of harmful drugs. Researchers have found undeniable evidence that the body can heal itself faster without drugs. every cell in your body has this innate healing ability and treatment at the cellular level has produced remarkable results.
This form of therapy entails a change in lifestyle with plenty of exercise and the eating of fruits and vegetables. Natural herbal remedies are given to the patient that will not only reverse but may even cure certain types of diabetes.
For type 1 there are no natural treatments. the pancreas does not secrete any insulin and that is why shots are needed.
For type 2, what do you mean natural? by keeping your carbohydrate intake moderate it can help.
Speak with your doctor for more information.
Can natural diabetes treatments work?

I have had type 1 diabetes for almost 4 years and they are mostly good, but not all the time. im just worried, because i feel like im only going to live to be 60…
does anyone know how long type 1s last?
This depends on a lot of factors. However, I've known quite a number of type-1 diabetics in their 70's.
To live longer:
– Follow a diet designed for diabetics. Vary from it cautiously and infrequently.
– Monitor your glucose properly and use your medication to keep your A1c within the normal range.
– Learn about the risks of your disease, and how to recognize early symptoms of diabetic complications.
– Have your A1c and other vitals monitored regularly, and take appropriate action when they are not in the desired range.
Gerry S gave good advice. your life expectancy can be directly related to your control of the diabetes and your diet. my mom is 85 and has taken insulin since she was 10 years old and is in relatively good health except for some neuropathy in her feet. she has always kept very strict control of her diet, and to this day will not eat sweets like cake, candy, pie etc.
Does anyone know the average age at which a type 1 diabetic will live to be?

A friend of mine's husband was cured of diabetes naturally through diet, nutrition, and most especially, detoxing. I have been out of touch with my friend for a while now, but I never found out what detoxing is and if there is any special nutrition.
ABSOLUTELY NOT DIABETEAS CAN NOT BE CURED!!!!!
Diabetes can be MANAGED or CONTROLLED but not cured by diet. once a diabetic always a diabetic
A well balanced healthy diet low in highly processed foods and foods high in salt or added sugar and high in ALL fruit and vegetables(they contain a natural sugar not added sugar and this is absorbed differently by the body) and high in unprocessed foods ie wholewheat/wholegrain foods
There are no naturopathic ways to treat or cure diabetes. Some Type 2's can be controlled by diet and exercise, most with medication (non-naturopathic), and some with insulin (a hormone). Type 1's are dependent on insulin or they will die within days. Detoxing diets can be dangerous, especially if you do them instead of the prescribed medication. Don't fall for it.
I also know of someone who has also been completely cured through detoxing and diet – it completely dumbfounded the conventional doctors. The other thing is stress, and this can be helped considerably by relieving the stress through vitamins, and Vitamin B12 plays a great part in this – available at http://www.getsuperb.com/13123320.
When you think of how your body works, you need to think of it as a mini "eco-system". your liver is the filter for toxins in your body, and it needs to be purged every so often. Ask yourself this question: How many 17-year-old boys and girls have you heard of with diabetes (I mean the Type 2, age onset diabetes)? very few, if any. therefore, the goal is to make your body like a 17-year-old again, and this is easier than you think. Conventional people who trust and believe in conventional doctors will say it cannot be cured, just as the people in the 1600s believed that the sun revolved around the earth. The reason why you don't hear about true cures is because there is very little money in it. it is much more lucrative to make you dependent on medicine than to cure you.
When your liver is purged of the toxins that build up in your system on a daily basis, then your blood is purified again and your organs can function properly once again.
HOWEVER, Type 1 diabetes cannot be cured – your pancreas has ceased to function at all at this point. But since most diabetes starts out as Type 2, it can cured before it becomes Type 1.
In some cases type 2 diabetes is the result of being obese. If that's the case then when the person brings their weight down the symptoms of the diabetes will leave. Know that this is not a cure because when they regain their weight the symptoms of the diabetes will return.
It cannot be CURED by diet, it is MANAGED or CONTROLLED by diet. The diet usually comes from special instruction of a dietician. it is usually a low carb diet.
